Crop Circles in Kent of 1992........
|
Lydd, nr. New Romney JUNE - JULY 1992 - Peas Two circles thought to have been of an equal size (between 25 & 35 feet wide) were discovered in a pea field just outside the village of Lydd, during the summer of '92. Conveniently positioned alongside tramlines, the pair was separated by an approximate distance of around 150 feet. It was reported at the time that the centres of the circles appeared to be well flattened. But whether this was due to the agency involved in its creation, or by visitors, we'll probably never know. Whilst this particular crop might seem like an unusual choice of canvas, "The Circlemakers" it seems have chosen some very odd crops and mediums over the years. Kent in particular has witnessed formations in oats, beans, grass, and even brussell sprouts. Some trees in Sandling Woods went one better in '63 when they were bizarrely flattened to form a circle! We've also known circles to form in light snow...and they've also been rumoured to appear in sand along our coastline. © Graham Tucker

Swanscombe, nr. Dartford August 1992 - Wheat This was quite a chunky formation that from a design point of view appeared to share some similarities with other '92 events. But whilst a circle held between two pillars can have obvious symbolic references, was that the clear intent behind its creators? Although there was a suggestion it was a welly-stomping exercise, from the photographs it appears quite neatly laid and fairly well executed. Many doubted its authenticity though when a posthole was discovered in its centre. Yet again, postholes or the like should never be regarded as concrete proof, that what we have here is a man-made effort. It's well known that the jokers who are all out to discredit this phenomenon, think nothing of making holes in genuine formations in order to further their cause! © Graham Tucker
