Crop Circles in Kent of 1993.......

Thurnham, nr. Maidstone JUNE 1993 - possibly Wheat
As single circles go this was quite a sizeable one. Discovered in mid-to-late June, this one hundred footer occupied a field along the lower slopes of the North Downs close to Thurnham. Interestingly, both the Pilgrims Way and the North Downs Way appear to form part of this field's border, so once again it seems our ancient tracks have attracted yet another circle! I must also mention that nearby towards the top of the Downs you'll find the old flint remains of Thurnham Castle that never fails to provide us with some wonderful views. There's a natural tendency to dismiss such simple events as these, but quite often and especially of late, it's the single circles that are revealing some interesting floor lays. We still see single circles appearing amongst the "jawdroppers" and I think in some respects that there continuing presence is somewhat reminding us of what "The Circlemakers" caught our attention with in the first place. I've always held a lot of respect for the single circle, for a circle in itself is a powerful symbol...and I might add a very spiritual symbol. A circle is a line drawn that has neither a beginning nor an end...something that perfectly symbolises the endless round of existence through a shape that's most perfect! © Graham Tucker

Istead Rise, Nr. Gravesend Summer 1993 - Wheat or Barley? Photographic evidence exists, of some random circle markings appearing in a rape field at Istead Rise, during April '94. Quite possibly, these perfectly formed circles that looked quite visible, were due to crop circles occupying the field the year previously. No one it seems during '93 reported them, so unfortunately a field report doesn't exist. © Graham Tucker
