THE ISTEAD PATHWAYS

APRIL 1994 - Oil Seed Rape

This formation in OSR consisted of a number of circular rings formed by pathways that were traced out. Because only a few distant shots were taken of these circles, the main sketch may not be entirely accurate. There is a possibility that the lower middle circle didn't exist...which actually would have been more in keeping with a Kent event. Instead I would surmise, that there could have been just two more pathways that linked the left and right circles, which would have come off of the central pathway. (Fig 1)

There were a couple of outer additions. The sketch of one of them shown below, is probably a lot neater than the actual event...in fact it might even be a man-made addition!

THE BOWLING BALL

JUNE 17th 1994 - Wheat

Well we think there was an attempt to create a "bowling ball" type design! According to researchers who investigated it at the time, the whole thing was quite untidy. The laid crop was found to be springing back up...which again, didn't seem to help matters.

This ball that was in the right ball-park at least, was quite a sizeable affair, measuring at least a hundred feet or so across.

A local TV team (possibly TVS?) ran their own investigation on it at the time...you can probably guess what their conclusions were!

THE MERSHAM RINGER

Mersham, nr. Ashford

Late JULY 1994 - Wheat

This neatly executed "ringer" was discovered in late July outside the village of Mersham, which is near Ashford. Spanning around 80ft across, apparently it was still found in good condition, even though researchers didn't examine it until August.

Interestingly, an outlying figure or signature that was discovered close to the main formation appeared to hold quite a high energy level. In fact a higher level of dowsable response seemed to come from this area, rather than from the main formation.
