READING THE SIGNS...

What's behind the symbolism found in formations?

PART FOUR

 

Through a picture language containing specific symbols, the ancient Egyptian/Sumerian priesthood proclaimed the existence of a future life. Conveyed by legend, this profound message was chiselled out of nearly every available square inch of temple wall space, over and over again. Thousands of years later we're finding that very same method of instruction being applied through the power of picture symbolism re-etched into our fields. Through a language that's possible for most of us to understand, the crop circles with apparent ease, carry trains of thought over thousands of years that are both transformative and liberating.

Geometry, or rather geometric symbolism, is the universal language spoken by all those who reside within the greater scheme of things and through its usage "The Circlemakers" are able to relentlessly deliver their message. We can even look upon geometry in itself as a form of intelligence...for circles, spirals, squares and stars etc, literally speak to us! There's also a spiritual law that exists that simply states that "wherever thought goes, energy flows", and when crop circles manifest into physical form there's an instant transmission of energy. We find that the pure essence of sacred geometry simply oozes from their very shape and form, and on higher planes of existence, energies are known to communicate through similar thought patterns to crop circles, telepathically.

There was a time when all ancient cultures conveyed knowledge via symbols for they were the perfect medium for transmitting higher truths. But the dawn of Christianity heralded centuries of persecution, and unfortunately many of these ancient symbols were crudely struck from temple walls and driven underground. Today the church in all its wisdom sees fit to condemn all such "strange" phenomena like crop circles. Now could this be because they see the return of blatant pagan symbolism stamped out in our fields? Religious belief systems find themselves challenged by the crop circle enigma, with the blinkered result that those committed find it quite difficult to place any real significance in them. Thankfully though despite the church's attempt over hundreds of years to assert its authority over just about everything, this ancient esoteric wisdom has been kept alive through hermetic societies. Esoteric symbolism always assumes or suggests that the celestial is primordial and eternal, and these multi-layered and multi-dimensional statements that at one time were hidden deep within "mystery schools" through a fear of being spit-roasted, now just turn up in farmer's fields!

Crop circles are likely the harbingers of a spiritual transformation that will rid us of all that wishes to control and suppress our God-given right to spiritual and intellectual freedom.

In awakening us from the slumber of centuries, they're considered amongst the first to act as a wake-up-call that's aimed at setting our minds alight. They're announcing big changes are on the way to those "who have ears", and one such symbol that reasons this and is always trying to grab our attention is...

 

THE SPIRAL

 

 

Appearing in an infinite number of ways, the simple spiral is a frequent visitor to our fields. It's a very ancient symbol, and one that's commonly found drawn upon the cave walls of our ancestors. Spiral forms represent the cyclic continuity of life and death and as such have apparently left no human culture untouched. They've appeared as finely etched rock carvings at several burial sites around the world, and most are extremely well preserved. Take for instance the mighty kerbstone that dominates the entrance to Newgrange in Ireland...Newgrange is one of the oldest burial mounds in Europe and it's guarded by this huge stone, that's magnificently decorated in megalithic spirals.

The earliest known symbol of spirituality is the spiral, for diagrammatically it represents the path we should take from a basic inner life (spiral centre) towards a higher spiritual form. The clockwise spiral is thought to represent "life in ascendancy", whereas the anti-clockwise one is said to indicate "life in decline". Either way though, both versions offer us a return to source.

Amazingly intricate spiral patterned floor lays, are known to appear quite frequently in crop circles. Whilst obviously their creators can choose to sweep either way, many have noted that they're more commonly laid in a clockwise direction. Some circle lays have offered us a double sweep, with one half of the laid circle swept clockwise, whilst the other is swirled round the opposite way. We've been shown that there are at least a dozen ways a circle can be swept, and continually they're displaying many intricacies that we haven't seen before. These surely are well thought out attempts aimed at maintaining our interest.

Double, or more commonly triple spirals, are employed in Celtic art that's straight out of the Lindisfarne Gospels, and it's true to say that many crop circles appear to be under some sort of Celtic influence at times. The Kent formations in particular have clearly shown this on a number of occasions.

The spiral is the simplest and the most common shape found in nature...from snail shells to DNA and galaxies. Likewise, spirals also appear in a seemingly infinite number of ways in crop circle designs. The following photos by Steve Alexander * show just how varying some of the spirals have been expressed by "The Circlemakers" during just one season...that of 2004.

This beautiful interlocking spiral that arrived early on in season '04, was a classic! Similar in appearance to what's carved on the mighty Newgrange kerbstone, here we have two spirals locked together, but heading off in different directions...Which in symbolic terms, is something that clearly expresses the intercommunication that can exist between two opposing principles, and the alternating energies of expansion and contraction that's found within "yin & yang".

Later on in the season a double interconnecting spiral was expressed more simply ...

Towards the end of the season, a remarkable formation was placed beside the old windmill at Wilton. What really drew our attention though was its tightly twisted centrepiece, which resembled a coiled serpent. Spirals have a special relationship with serpents which symbolically are often placed at the centre of spirals, or as in this case, at the centre of things, simply because they're the symbol of wisdom and eternity.

Whilst most of the spiral designs that appear in our fields are quite boldly drawn, there's a certain spiral-type that on most occasions is usually featured playing a more subtle role. It's known as...

 

THE FIBONACCI SPIRAL

 

 

The Fibonacci Spiral is an outward growing spiral whose growth is regulated by a series of numbers that's known as the "Fibonacci Number Sequence". This important series of numbers is created by adding the last two numbers together in order to create the next...as in, 0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, 34, & so forth. It's an attempt to replicate a spiral of divine proportions that has neither a beginning nor an end, that's commonly known as the "Golden Mean Ratio" (or phi ratio, 1.6180339). This unique spiral illustrates for us the perfect harmony and proportion of nature's natural growth pattern. But whilst It's quite difficult to get our heads round something that has no beginning, we find we can get quite close to this divine spiral by employing the Fibonacci analogue sequence, that offers very little difference between the two.

In spiritual terms, the ever-outward growing shape of the Fibonacci Spiral perfectly traces the path we should all be journeying upon. From its inner centre at "0", which equates to us in our present physical form, here we have an ever-expanding pathway of enlightenment that symbolises our spiritual growth as we head out slowly towards the "Love Supreme".

Within its boxed partitions, the above diagram of the Fibonacci Spiral also sets out to illustrate dimensions, and in particular, the greater "all seeing" sixth dimension. Through its special sequence of numbers it spirals out from the inner first, second and third, of the so-called smaller dimensions, until it eventually widens out to encompass the greater planes. Whilst we can easily see two-dimensional objects from a third dimensional perspective, we simply can't view things in 4D, unless of course we just happen to live there! But those entities that reside in the fourth are able to see us... whilst fifth-dimensional forms in turn possess the ability to see into the fourth, as well as the third etc. Having said that it should now go without saying, that the guys on the sixth floor are occupying the greater of all previous planes, so that they're able to view everything in an "all seeing" manner. Interestingly, the mythical son of Isis and Osiris, namely Horus, the ancient Egyptian God and guardian of the Earth allegedly resides in "the sixth". Housed within this plane, he's "all seeing and all knowing" and this symbolic thought is perfectly enshrined within the age-old "All Seeing Eye of Horus" glyph, in which a Fibonacci Spiral is beautifully expressed.

The Fibonacci Spiral is a sacred form that's found in nature on a countless number of occasions. We find it in animal horns, seashells, and in many plants and flowers etc. During July of the 2002 season a magnificent Nautilus Conch Shell design appeared just below the Pewsey White Horse in Wiltshire. Unmistakably seen within a formation that was noted for its stunning precision, this was a superb and almost textbook example of the "Golden Mean Ratio".
