Report by Medway researcher Andy Fowlds.

What a truly remarkable event....  2 days after the arrival of the disappointing “flower of life with single ringed circle” event finally the season here at Medway got off to a winning start with one of the most impressive formations I have ever come across in my 4th season of active interest involved with the Medway Crop Circle group. The way it was positioned in the opposite side of the field to where we had the Burham Circles in 2004 it was simply meant to be viewed from there. What a view indeed. One felt awestruck at the majesty of the formation – you could almost feel “energy” oozing from it… baking under the hot sun – inviting you in – except later we discovered we weren’t allowed in - the field was owned by one angry, vigilant farmer! Thankfully we did get the opportunity to get in there quickly before he arrived to order us out… and what a beauty this was on the ground. The floor-lay was well laid, very symmetrical and very neat, much of it wasn’t completely flat to the ground, just bent over and the ripened barley created this lumpy, ruffled effect in some places. The lay was so neat in places you didn’t want to walk over it, you didn’t want to spoil what was immaculately laid out in front of you. There were some nice swirls in the centre of the “points” of the 6 pointed star design, but no real eye catching centre pieces that we are occasionally used to seeing… There were no obvious tracks or entry points to the grape-shot circles – they seemed created with a purpose – they were perfectly executed small circles. Overall there was nothing wrong with this formation on the ground, there was no evidence of board marks that we could see, no obvious damage that we could see, it was felt however that we may not have been the first people to visit this formation as we later heard that the farmer had chased visitors (teenagers drinking beer apparently) out of his field the evening it arrived, which we can confirm was between the hours of 8pm and 10pm. We were later informed by researcher Bill Betts of the Farmer’s vigilance towards visitors on his land and we were left with the impression that if he saw anyone damaging his crop in his field he would inform the police and have them arrested. I think its worth pointing out that in Bills report, the fact the teenagers sat alongside the field after the farmer chased them out indicated they had no fear probably because they felt they hadn’t done anything wrong, other than visit the formation, which they most likely spotted from the top of Blue Bell Hill picnic area that evening.

On Tuesday evening, 3 days after its discovery, Andrew King, Bill and I went flying to get overhead photos and boy were we not disappointed. Flying around and over this formation was fantastic – it seemed to shine like a star under the evening sunlight. A memorable occasion I shall never forget.
